Memories advertising has perverted for me this week

(in order of outrage)

1. A Christmas Story – Cingular

2. “Something to Talk About”, Badly Drawn Boy, from the About a Boy soundtrack – Hummer

3. The Apollo moon landing – Red Bull

  1. I agree with all of those. A lot of people are indifferent or even happy that they get to hear the song more, but marketers know you associate songs with memories and feelings and play these songs, or at least the clips that don’t completely contrast their message, repeatedly until they’ve made you think Toyota when you hear Rolling Stones instead of that great summer you had in 1969. If they can buy it and kill it, we can at least bitch about it.
